Throughout Wolves Behind You, Sam and Sir Alec discuss the Knight’s Code.

Sir Alec rested his hand on the hilt of his sword.  “That was quite courageous,
my lad.  We live another day, to serve the King, to protect helpless damsels, and
to battle the forces of evil – we brave knights of yore!”

What is the Knight’s Code?

Medieval knights were the first superheroes, famous for their extraordinary courage and gallantry.

A brief summary of their code of honor:

~~ To respect and serve God
~~ To obey orders
~~ To be honest, kind, and brave
~~ To assist widows and orphans
~~ To respect women
~~ To never refuse a challenge
~~ To fight the good fight
~~ To never give up
~~ To assist fellow knights
~~ To oppose and vanquish evildoers
~~ To refuse financial compensation for their assistance

In Wolves Behind You, Sam – a 21st century knight – clashes with the most powerful Mafia family in California.  By living according to the Knight’s Code, he proves that one hero can make the difference in a dangerous world.

Who is Sam Donahan?  He’s the heart of the story.

He’s the guy who climbs onto a window ledge and talks Natalie out of jumping to her death.

He’s the guy who tells Mia, the former call girl-turned-cook:

“You must put all of those unpleasant memories behind you.”  He cast an invisible

baseball over her shoulder.  “That’s where they belong.  Focus on the person you are

now.  What will you be, and what will you do in the years ahead?  Who will make

     those decisions?  You.”

He’s the guy who tells the wicked Cosmo Cappalletti:

Mene, mene, tekel upharsinGod has numbered the days of your kingdom and

brought it to an end, you have been weighed on the scales and found wanting, and

your kingdom is divided and given to your enemies.’”
